The course enables delegates to gain theoretical and practical understanding of servicing of fixed fire hose reels in accordance with EN 671-3.

The course covers:

  • The applicable legislation/standards for hose reels
  • An understanding of hose reels conforming to EN 671-1  
  • The maintenance actions for hose reels to relevant standards (EN 671-3)
  • Where BS 5306-1 impacts on servicing to EN 671-3
  • The potential risks from maintenance actions which may impact the premises
  • Practical training and assessment

Whilst there is no necessary experience required to be allowed to sit the training, any previous experience or shadowing of a competent engineer will be beneficial prior to sitting the course.

As this course includes a practical element with water,  delegates may get wet and/or dirty and must come with a set of tools to participate which should include the following:

  • Safety footwear
  • Hardhat
  • Safety glasses
  • Work clothing (may get wet and/or dirty)
  • Gloves (optional)

Learning outcomes include:

  • Practical hands-on experience of hose reels
  • FIA certificate on passing the Theory and Practical Assessment
