From launching our first Fire Safety Summit in Gibraltar to unveiling the FIA Compliance Portal and expanding practical training, it’s been a year of major milestones. As we reflect on this progress, we’re inviting all FIA members to share their views through our annual survey – helping shape what comes next.

Over the past year, the FIA has continued to drive progress across the fire safety sector, championing professional development, supporting compliance, and engaging with the wider industry like never before. Thanks to the commitment of our members and the tireless efforts of our team, we’ve achieved several major milestones that reflect our shared mission to advance fire protection standards.

Key Achievements:

Growth in Membership

Our membership community has grown by 9.6% this year. This continued growth underscores the trust and value that professionals and businesses place in the FIA as the voice of the fire industry.

First Fire Safety Summit in Gibraltar

In May, we hosted the first-ever FIA Fire Safety Summit in Gibraltar – a landmark event that brought together local stakeholders, international experts, and FIA members to explore key issues in fire protection, share insights, and strengthen cross-border collaboration.

Launch of the FIA Compliance Portal

This year saw the successful launch of the FIA Compliance Portal – a new digital platform designed to streamline access to guidance, templates, and essential documentation to support best practice and third-party certification. It's already proving a valuable tool for members looking to demonstrate and maintain high standards.

Practical Training Launch

We introduced new practical training sessions designed to complement our existing theoretical qualifications. These hands-on modules offer learners a real-world understanding of fire safety equipment and systems, strengthening their confidence and competence on the job.

BS 5839-1:2025 Roadshow

Ahead of the publication of the revised BS 5839-1:2025, we took to the road – delivering a nationwide roadshow across the UK and Ireland. These sessions offered vital updates and early insights to help professionals prepare for the forthcoming changes in fire detection and alarm system standards.

Social Media Milestone – 50,000 LinkedIn Followers

We’re proud to have reached a new milestone – 50,000 LinkedIn followers! This growing community helps us extend our reach, amplify member voices, and share key news, guidance, and technical insights across the industry.

These achievements reflect our ongoing work to support members, raise standards, and keep the fire safety profession moving forward. But as always, there’s more to do – and we welcome your views on how we can keep improving.
